The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Hebrews 1:9. “You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore, God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” Physician Luke, apostle Paul’s younger companion, is now believed to have authored the Book of Hebrews. Regardless of the writer, we know it was divinely inspired by God and is just as sound now, doctrine-wise, as it was when first penned. Christians are a separate people; we know this to be true, making us different from many of our friends and cohorts. We strongly resist wickedness and strive for righteousness. We have been set above our companions and are anointed with the oil of joy. How special this should make all of us feel who claim to be among God’s anointed! We are set apart and are, in consequence, heirs and joint heirs of our heavenly Father. Never forget, saints of God: all Heaven will be ours someday. Amen!
