NOTICE OF A TAX INCREASE AND A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED BUDGET AND PROPOSED TAX LEVIES FOR THE SIMPSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Simpson County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on its proposed ad valorem tax revenue increase for fiscal year 2017 and on its proposed budget and proposed tax levies for fiscal year 2017 on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Board Room of the Simpson County Chancery Court Building, 111 West Pine Avenue, Mendenhall, Mississippi.
The Simpson County Board of Supervisors is now operating with projected total budget revenue of $15,361,674. (59.70%) or $9,171,576, of such revenue is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $15,765,272. Of that amount, (61.54%) or $9,701,496, is proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy.
For the next fiscal year 2017, Simpson County plans to increase your ad valorem tax millage rate by 3.5 mills from 96 mills to 99.5 mills. This increase means you will pay more in ad valorem taxes on your home, automobile tag, utilities, business fixtures and equipment and rental real property.
Any citizen of Simpson County was invited to attend this public hearing on the proposed ad valorem tax increase and proposed for fiscal year 2017.
This notice is published pursuant to the provisions of Section 27-39-203, Mississippi Code of 1972, as amended.
