With virtual learning, google classroom, and the technology involved in educating a student, the hurdles are real for many…especially grandparents.
“So many grandparents are raising their grandchildren,” pointed out Dr.Toriano Holloway Superintendent of Education for Simpson County. With the changes in curriculums, one cannot always fall back on the way they learned.
The Simpson County School System realizes these problems and has a plan!
Project Grandparents kicks off Monday morning, November7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Magee Elementary cafeteria. The grandparents will have hands on instruction how the system works in our schools. The grandparents as well as parents have access to grades, attendance, homework, and more through this program.
Monday night at 6:00 PM the session will again be taught. “A lot of grandparents are still working and can’t make a 10 o’clock meeting. This is one of the reasons we are making the program available at 6 PM,” stated Holloway.
Tuesday at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM the class will be available at Mendenhall. Wednesday at 10:00 AM Simpson Central grandparents will meet. The follow up/night workshop for Simpson Central will be at 6 PM on Monday the 14th.
Sometimes, we as grandparents are afraid to attend any training because we feel so dumb! This will not be the situation at these classes. An assistant will work with the grandparents “hands on” to learn the system. If you do not have a computer or iPad, bring your phone!
Please take time to listen to the video. Dr. Holloway explains the goals and challenges as we move into an area of virtual learning.
