Practical Nursing program to be reestablished at Co-Lin’s Natchez Campus

NATCHEZ – Copiah-Lincoln Community College is proud to announce the return of the Practical Nursing program on the college’s Natchez Campus! The program will begin its first class of students in January of 2022.

“The addition of the Practical Nursing program on our campus will be a great asset to our community and the surrounding areas,” said Dr. Sandra Barnes, Vice President of the Natchez Campus. “At Co-Lin, our top priority is to offer training opportunities for students to better themselves and their families, and to meet the needs of our local business and industry. Adding the Practical Nursing program to our campus offerings will do just that.”

Practical Nursing is a one-year curriculum designed to provide the student with knowledge and skills necessary to function as a member of the health care team in administering safe, effective nursing care. Students are exposed to a well-balanced program of scientific foundations to provide knowledge, skills and understanding needed to function as a practical nurse. Upon graduation, the student will receive a certificate and be eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Practical Nurses.

“We are proud to see the PN program be reestablished on the Natchez Campus,” said Brent Duguid, Dean of Career, Technical, and Workforce Education. “This is an exciting opportunity for students to start a new career in an in-demand field.”

Other career-technical programs offered on the Natchez Campus include Automation & Control Technology, Business and Marketing Management, Business and Office Technology, Diesel Equipment Technology, EMT/Paramedic, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology, Hospitality and Tourism, Respiratory Care Technology, and Welding.

More details about applying, deadlines, and acceptance guidelines will be provided soon. For more information, contact 601.442.9111 or 601.446.1166, visit www.colin.edu, and follow Copiah-Lincoln Community College social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
