A crisp and cool November 10th was the perfect day to celebrate Veteran’s Day in Magee.  The festivities kicked off with a parade beginning at 10:15.   The  Ceremony began at 11:00 PM on the front steps of the Community House.  The Magee High School band performed…and as always…they were fabulous!  The band played songs for each branch of the armed forces.

Mayor Jimmy Clyde welcomed everyone.  Brother Buddy Keys gave the opening and closing prayer.  Pat Brown introduced the key note speaker, Pete Howell.

Pete is presently the Principal of Magee High School.  Pete’s talk was outstanding.  He spoke of the importance of Veteran’s benefits and the importance of honoring and respecting our veterans.  Pete served in the armed forces as well as worked with the Magee Police Department.  While on duty with the Magee PD, Pete was injured by a gun shot wound.  Although Pete’s path led away from actual law enforcement, his experience in the military and law enforcement laid the path for his work in public schools.  Pete is deeply dedicated to his family, church, and country.
