One person was killed and several injured in a crash in Simpson County near Cabinet Shop Road in Simpson County Thursday afternoon.
According to Fire Marshal Charlie Valadie:
Incident date: 12/05/2019
Incident times: Call received – 1233; on scene @ 1242; back in service @ 1333.
Magee Fire responded (with 3 units & 10 personnel) to a vehicle collision requiring extrication. Location was Hwy 28 near Cabinet Shop RD. Upon arrival, Simpson SO deputy was already on scene, along with several concern citizens who stopped to render aid. Two vehicles had collided. The impact caused both vehicles to leave the road, overturn, & injure several occupants. 3 patients were on the ground outside the vehicles, being assisted by various people. One patient was entrapped, requiring extrication from FD personnel. One vehicle, containing one occupant, landed upright. The other vehicle, with 3 occupants, came to rest rest on its roof. One of these 3 occupants was entrapped. While using the Hurst extrication tools, the Magee FD was able to safely remove the entrapped victim, whose injuries appeared to be serious. AMR arrived with 2 units & transported the injured to medical facilities. Pinola FD, Ms Highway Patrol, Simpson SO, MDOT were on the scene & assisted with the incident. MS Highway Patrol was investigating the circumstances of the collision.
According to WLBT, Steven B. Beckham, 51, of Hattiesburg died. The driver of the Silverado has been identified as Breshard D. Tillman, 40, of Magee. He was transported to Forest General Hospital with serious injuries.
