Perfect Ending To A Perfect Season:
Last night the Simpson Academy Junior High Girls completed a feat that had not been done since 1996 by finishing the season with a record of 27-0. They also broke a streak for the Leake Academy Rebelettes by ending a 26 consecutive year run of winning a Junior High Girls District Championship.
The Cougars jumped on Leake Academy early with a quick 11-2 run. The girls continued to apply pressure the entire game never allowing the Rebelettes to get within 10 points. Simpson Academy finished the game with a score of 42-31.
It was an amazing team effort. They had great guard play, dominating post play, and critical minutes off the bench. The crowd was electric and the Lady Cougars did not disappoint.
The Lady Cougars are coached by Linda Dear, Chaucer Funchess, Josh McNulty, and Brandi Giordano.
