Peggy Ashley Carr, 83 of Picayune, MS passed away February 13, 2024. She was born January 5, 1941 in Mize, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, MS. A Graveside service will follow the visitation at 11:30am at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, 3782 SCR 79, Mize, Mississippi. Bro. David Smith will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Peggy (“G-Peg” or “Granny”) was sharp witted, fiercely independent, had a deep love for animals, and gave the greatest hugs. She was the sharpshooter of the family and was quick to let you know it. She loved her church, Resurrection Life Ministries, and enjoyed being an active member of The Arms of Ruth, a group of “Wild Widows” at the church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She always said “You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone” and she sure was right.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny R. Carr, Sr.; father, Eddie Ashley; mother, Callie Carr Ashley; brothers, Clinton Ashley and Clyde Ashley.
Survivors include her brother, Clifton Ashley; son, Ray Carr (Cindy); daughters, Cheryl Johnson (Dwayne), Jamie Smith (Kevin) and Gail Russell; grandchildren, Brandon Allen (Carmen), Hannah Shea Smith, Hayden Smith, Candace Bullard, Noelle Covington (Colt), Dylan Bullard, Karsen Dillard (Chris), Kaitlyn Davenport (Brooks) and Kallie Carr; and 6 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Bullard, Hayden Smith, Brandon Allen, Brooks Davenport, Chris Dillard, and Dwayne Johnson.
