MENDENHALL, MS — Simpson General Hospital is pleased to welcome Paul Munn, a Nurse Practitioner who will be working in the SGH Medical Clinic located in Mendenhall. Munn is the great nephew of the late Dr. William G. Munn, who served as Chief of Staff of Simpson General for 45 years. Dr. William Munn established his medical practice in Mendenhall at Simpson General in 1963, later serving as Chief of Staff until 2011. Dr. Munn was influential in bringing about the 1981 east and west wing renovations.

Paul Munn earned an associate’s degree from Copiah-Lincoln Community College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s School of Nursing. He also attended the University of Mississippi. Munn is native of Mendenhall and a graduate of Simpson Academy.

Munn also holds a Master of Science degree in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and a Post-Master’s certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Munn says he is excited about returning to his roots in Mendenhall after working as a nurse at UMMC for eight years. “I find it just as rewarding to provide comprehensive healthcare as a family provider as it was to manage critical illness and injury in the ICU,” he says. “I enjoy helping others heal, and I am looking forward to doing that in my hometown.”

“We are pleased to have Paul join us and continue the tradition of community service begun by his great uncle William Munn, who was a strong leader for our hospital,” said Dr. Chip Holbrook, Chief of Staff of Simpson General. “He will be a tremendous asset to our clinic.”

To schedule an appointment with Munn, contact SGH Medical Clinic at 601.847.2424.

Dr. Munn was my hero but did anyone mention or did I miss who Paul’s parents are?
