One of the nation’s leading consumer reporting companies has included Mississippi College among its authoritative 2022 Best Colleges Rankings.

U.S. News and World Report employed 17 measures of academic quality to assess 1,466 bachelor’s degree-granting institutions in the U.S. Its rankings of top universities help consumers craft a short list of outstanding academic institutions to compare and examine more closely.

It is the second time within a month that MC has made a national list of best colleges. On Aug. 31, the Princeton Review, one of the nation’s leading tutoring, test prep and college admissions service companies, listed MC among its “2022 Best Colleges: Region by Region” listings.

Mississippi College also was included in the U.S. News Best Colleges Rankings for 2021.

Dr. Blake Thompson, MC president, said the Christian University’s appearance on these lists signifies Mississippi College’s outstanding national reputation and dedication to academic excellence.

“Being recognized by a nationally known organization like U.S. News for being among the best colleges in the country is a tribute to our amazing faculty and staff, and reflects our outstanding community of students, families, alumni, and friends,” Thompson said. “Their commitment to academic excellence and to our Christian faith is what sustains and elevates Mississippi College in these national rankings.

“Together, we’re building on our success to continue MC’s rise.”

U.S. News employs thoroughly vetted academic data from surveys and reliable third-party sources to calculate ranking factors employed to develop the list. Nonacademic elements, unscientific straw polls and business relationships are not factored into the rankings.

In addition to being included on the U.S. News overall list, three of MC’s programs were individually cited for being among the nation’s best.

MC’s School of Business was included among the U.S. News 2022 Best Undergraduate Business Programs Rankings; MC’s Department of Engineering, Computer Science and Physics was listed among the U.S. News 2022 Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs (No Doctorate) Rankings; and MC’s School of Nursing made the U.S. News 2022 Best Undergraduate Nursing Programs Rankings.

MC Business and MC’s Electrical Engineering Program also were cited by U.S. News last year; U.S. News debuted the Best Undergraduate Nursing Programs category this year.

According to U.S. News, its listings reach more than 40 million people each month who are seeking expert advice on a variety of categories. The “Best” series of consumer guides on colleges is one of its signature franchises.
