The Magee Cemetery Committee, which is composed of all volunteers, continues to make progress at our local cemetery.
In honor of Veteran’s Day, committee member Ricky Anderson handled display of the flags at the front gate of the cemetery.
Members of the cemetery committee are: Joy Harris, Jason Ratcliffe, Tawesia Meador, Ricky Anderson, Lyndell Cockrell, and Alderman at large Sue Honea (chairman).
The committee added directional signs in the cemetery, painted the brick fence, handled the cutting of trees, requested repair to the turnaround in lower part of the cemetery, clean-up of trash and old flowers, installation of cameras, display of flags, and new cemetery sign.
Future plans: the committee will add 9 additional trash cans, clean around the pine tree when entering the gates, welcome sign displaying information about the cemetery, and landscaping in front of the fence.
The volunteer committee is not “in charge” of the cemetery. The committee strives to keep areas in the cemetery clean and attractive. Individual families are in charge of the upkeep of their plots.
