Jeff Venable, one of my deceased son’s friends, always thinks of me! One of the greatest fears after losing a child is that he or she will be forgotten. I know we as parents and siblings don’t forget…but often our friends forget…Not, Jeff Venable. He still comes by to see me. He still sends me notes and pictures. He still remembers.
For the ones of you who did not know Larkin, well, you missed an experience like no other. He was my wild child! An A student who hated to get up everyday. Larkin was always late for school. (Justin Swain was right with Larkin…those guys like to stay up late and get up late which doesn’t always work in life.)
top left Patrick Brien, Todd Paul.and Jim Hudson in the White hat On the middle row it’s Angie, Larkin, Swain, Sam Taylor in the Yellow Shirt, Jeff Venable in the White Shirt and Jeremy Martin in the navy blue. On the bottom row it’s Melissa Mosely and Mr. Pierce.
Jeff shared these pictures and words with me…I decided to share with you! If you have suffered the loss of a child, every memory is precious. I can still hear Larkin coming through the front door screaming “Sue Baby”…with his cleats on…
My goal is to one day write a book about “The War Daddy.” Hopefully, I will settle down and take on the life and times of Larkin Honea.
From Jeff:
Momma Sue
I had some pictures to share with you! I can’t remember if I had sent this to you!
Larkin wasn’t always the most on time especially for things like Mr. Pierce’s class.
Him and Swain got whoppens for all the time for their tardiness all the time. 😂🤣😭
So fitting the last day of class for us as Seniors would be no different.
I can’t remember if they volunteered or showed up late but Mr. Pierce obliged.
I fell out on the ground last night when I had come across these and thought you might enjoy them too.
Larkin always knew what to say to get him riled up and usually Swain was right there with him. hahahaha
Love,
Fish
I will never forget and always miss life without Larkin.
(Larkin died at the age of 22 while a student at Ole Miss. He committed suicide.)

Thank you, Jeff, for remembering our wild, crazy, and dearly loved Larkin. As his aunt, I think about him daily. You are so very special.
