Our MSU Extension office offers many opportunities to people living in Simpson County. The Extension is not just for farmers. Every year, the Extension seeks ways to assist all members of our county.
Amanda Blakeney is the County Coordinator. Terence Norwood is the Extension instructor and works with Community Development. Tammy Layton is the Nutrition educator. Becky Berry runs the office!
Fewer than 2 % of Americans farm for a living today, and only 17 % of Americans now live in rural areas. Extension agents help farmers grow crops, homeowners plan and maintain their homes, and children learn skills to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Our extension office is located at 2785 Simpson Highway 49 Mendenhall, MS. For additional information on programs available, call the agency at 601-847-1335.
Wednesday, December 11, 2019, the Extension presented information about what is taking place in Simpson County…what the Extension is doing for our children and adults. Dale Berry, Booker Wooderd, Sadie Lee, and Sue Honea, members of the Executive Advisory Board, attended the meeting. From food demos, to taste test, to cow shows, to nutrition classes, the Extension is presenting information for everyone.
(Sue note: I was quite impressed with the opportunities for adults and youth in our county. If you are looking for something for your young person that will help with their growth toward being responsible and involved, contact the extension office)
