Mrs. H. F. McCarty (Mary Ann) long time resident of Magee died Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. McCarty were both strong supporters of the city of Magee, the school systems, the Boy and Girl’s Scouts, Millsaps College, University of Mississippi, the First United Methodist Church….I’m just saying…everything in our area and state.
I have such fun and precious memories of Mama Mac….she drove us to Girl Scout Camp in the McCarty Farm’s Chicken bus! Whatever it took, Mama Mac was going to take care of her “chicks” …
My heart is sadden as I experience the loss of ladies like Mamma Mac who gave of their time for the success of others. Mrs. McCarty’s daughter, Kathy Flynt, just died a few weeks ago…sometimes I think she was waiting for Kathy ….what a glorious day in heaven as she reunites with her husband, Kathy, and her other daughter Marsha.

Mama Mac looked so healthy, pretty and much younger than her age when I saw her at Kathy’s funeral. Although Kathy and I were life long friends, when I talked with her I don’t know that she recognilzed me, since she’s suffered from Alzheimers. I know it’s been sad for her to lose two of her girls. I’m sure they are having a reunion and Mama Mac is thinking clearer than ever!!
