JACKSON, Miss. – Commissioner Andy Gipson is bringing back the legendary horse & mule pull to the 2019 Mississippi State Fair as well as introducing the Fair’s first-ever pony pull. All three events will be held in the Kirk Fordice Equine Facility on Saturday, October 12.

The horse pull will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the mule pull immediately following. The pony pull will begin at 2:00 p.m. Weigh-in for horses is 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. and weigh-in for mules is 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in barn #11. There will be a $125.00 entry fee for out-of-state participants and a $25.00 entry fee for in-state participants. Regular fair admission into the Mississippi State Fairgrounds will also be charged.

However, participants who pre-register will be sent two entry passes and one parking pass for each entry if received by September 15, 2019. Livestock are required to enter the fairgrounds through Gate #14 on Mississippi Street. Prize money and trophies will be awarded for each weight class.

“I am so excited to bring the horse and mule pull back to the state fair,” said Commissioner Gipson. “We’re also adding a pony pull for the very first time, which will be a fun and new attraction for the entire family to enjoy.”

Entry forms can be found in the Market Bulletin and online at www.mdac.ms.gov/fair/contest-forms. For additional information, call Connie Braswell at 601-506-7356 or visit www.MsStateFair.com.
