The Mississippi Lions Band has spent a week in Ellisville, MS at Jones County Junior College, practicing and preparing for the parade of champions in Japan.
The band puts in hard and numerous hours during camp to prepare for the upcoming competition.
The band is under the direction of Jeff Cannon – Director/Manager and Mickey Mangum Asst. Director/Manager.
Tuesday, June 12, 2016 the band leaves for Japan.
Ms Lions Band is a very prestige program for band students. The students audition and only a select few are picked.
The Mississippi Lion’s Band has won an unprecedented 13 times over the last 14 years and a total of 31 times since 1951. In 2008 and in 2012, they decided not to attend international competition because of the distance and cost, and performed in Washington D.C. and Hawaii respectively, instead. This year the band will compete in the Lion’s international parade in Japan. The Mississippi band has won more times than any other band in the world.
