As of November 25, Mississippi’s influenza-like illness rate has increased sharply for the third week in a row. The rise in influenza-like illness signals an increasing risk for flu.
It’s not too late to get a flu shot to help you and your family stay protected during flu season. Flu shots take about two weeks to produce maximum effectiveness, so vaccination against the flu today can mean a healthier and happier holiday. Flu protection is especially important for younger children, pregnant women, older adults, and those with a chronic illness.
Find a flu shot at your local pharmacy, neighborhood clinic, or from your physician. Children and qualifying adults can receive flu shots from any of our county health departments. Find a location near you that offers flu shots with vaccinefinder.org.
