MHS Top of the Class

Magee High School released the names of the top 3 students for the Class of 2021.  Frennon McNair was named Valedictorian, Jamie Robertson was named Salutatorian and Historian.

Brennon Lee McNair is the son of Fountaine and Sonya McNair. Brennon is the Class of 2021 Valedictorian at Magee High School. As a Superintendent Scholar, Brennon has maintained a 4.0 GPA while also completing 40 dual enrollment credit hours toward college at Co-Lin Simpson Center. Brennon is serving in the Student Council as Student Body President, Beta Club Treasurer and Mu Alpha Theta President. He is also a member of the Yearbook Staff and National Honor Society. His senior year, Brennon was chosen Most Likely to Succeed, Most Intellectual and Most Talented. In the past he has been voted, Best All Around, Most Cooperative, Best School Spirit and Citizenship Award.

Over his high school career, Brennon has been chosen to be a part of the Future Leaders of
Simpson County, Mayor’s Youth Council, American Legions Boys State Program, and the
University of Mississippi Trent Lott Leadership Institute. The summer before his freshman year, Brennon was granted the privilege of attending the Leadership Summit at Harvard Law School.

As a member of the Magee High School Varsity Baseball team, Brennon plays shortstop. He was part of the 2019 3A Runner-Up State Championship team. A team that rallied and gained he support of the entire City. Throughout his baseball career as a Trojan, he has been rewarded Scholar Athlete (2020), MHSAA All State Class 3A First Team (2019), Highest Batting Average (2019), District 6-3A Second Team (2019), District Champs (2019 & 2021), Trojan Warrior Certificate (2018-2020) and Letterman (2018-2020). As a special honor, he will be playing in the Class 3A D.M. Howie All-Star Game on June 10th.

Brennon will be attending the University of South Alabama on a baseball scholarship. While at South Alabama, Brennon will major in engineering but has aspirations to one day play in Major League Baseball.

Brennon credits his parents for instilling in him the principles to become a respectable young man in this world. He has been especially blessed to have been surrounded with grandparents and family members who have displayed a lifestyle that is pleasing to God and man. Brennon is an active member of Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E. Darnell Moffett, where he plays the drums, and is a part of the usher and youth ministry.

Brennon states “To my fellow underclassmen, always give 100% in whatever you do. Have no regrets. Work hard and strive for greatness. If you fall, get back up and start again. Cherish every moment. “DO NOT WASTE YOUR TALENT ON NONSENSE”. Do not let anyone tell you what is not achievable. Create your own path!”

Jamie Robertson is the daughter of Gregory and Anita Robertson. She is the salutatorian of the class of 2021 graduating with a 4.0 GPA and an ACT score of 25. Jamie will graduate from Magee with highest honors and as a Mississippi Scholar. She is currently the drum major of the Magee High School band and she plays the trumpet. She is also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and currently is the president of the Beta Club at Magee High School. Jamie’s future plans are to attend William Carey University and major in Music Education. Advice that Jamie would give to underclassmen is to not let what other people think about you and how they feel about you to get too deep in your head and make you question yourself to the point of distracting you from what your goals and ambitions are; your true friends will always be there for you and you might not always have the same friend group but that’s okay.

Jamie is the daughter of Greg and Anita Robertson of Raleigh.

Lakecia Turner is the daughter of Kissha Turner.  Lakecia is the Class of 2021 Historian at Magee High School.  Lakecia has been a Superintendent Scholar for four years while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.  Lakecia has completed several college dual credit classes at Co-Lin Simpson Center. Lakecia is a member of the band, the softball team, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and Phi Theta Kappa.  Lakecia has received numerous awards throughout her high school years.

Lakecia will be attending William Carey University on an Academic Scholarship and major in music therapy and psychology.  Lakecia gives thanks to her mom and Myricks Cole who has inspired her to do great in life.  Lakecia’s advice to the underclassmen, “focus more on yourself.”
