Magee High School will celebrate Homecoming Friday night, October 21st at Trojan Field. The Homecoming Parade will take place Thursday at 6:00 pm on Choctaw and Main Streets.

Football Maid Tarkesha Hayes is the 18-year-old daughter of Stephanie Hayes and Kevin Collier. She has two brothers: Keshun and Jeremy.  Her birthday is September 30th. Her hobbies include cheering, playing in the band, and sleeping. Her favorite artist is J. Cole and her favorite movie is Remember the Titans. She is a member of the Magee High Cheerleaders, FCA, Beta and Bible Clubs, and the Speech and Debate Team.  She is also a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church and Girl Scouts. She is employed at Ward’s in Magee. The best advice Tarkesha has been given is, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” Tarkesha lives by the motto, “Entertain a clown and you become a part of the circus.” Her fondest memory of Magee High School is meeting Ms. Amy Shepherd who has become her best friend/teacher. Her favorite quote is, “If you want to fly you have to give up the things that weigh you down.” Tarkesha believes that it is great to be a Trojan when everyone works together and supports each other through rain or shine. After graduation she wants to attend Jones Junior College and the University of South Alabama in order to become a physical therapist.

Football Maid Diana Holland is the 17-year-old daughter of Brad and Anne-Marie Holland. She has one brother, Hayes. Her birthday is July 27th. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping, and traveling. Her favorite artist is Beyonce and her favorite movie is Endless Love. She is a member of FCA, the Magee High Cheerleaders and Student Council, Beta Club, National Honor Society, the Diamond Girls, and she serves as president of the Senior class. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Magee Youth Group. The best advice Diana has been given is, “It’s okay to be different.” Diana’s motto is Psalms 16:8: “With God at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Her fondest memory of Magee High School is “Football Fridays,” especially Magee/Mendenhall Fridays. “She believed she could so she did,” is her favorite quote.

Diana believes every day is a good day to be a Trojan. She wants to further her education at Mississippi State and looks forward to becoming a “State Bulldog.”

Senior Maid Kiara Drake is the 17-year-old daughter of LaWanda Floyd and Patrick Drake. She has two sisters, Destyn and Madison, and a brother, Richard. Her birthday is December 17th. She enjoys reading, playing volleyball, and listening to Kevin Gates and Kodak Black.  Her favorite movie is Waist Deep. She is a member of the Beta and Bible Clubs, FCA, volleyball team, National Honor Society, Debate Team, and serves as secretary of the Student Council. She works at Wendy’s and attends Galilee MB Church. The best advice Kiara has been given was from her grandmother, Dolly Floyd, “ In all ways, through all trials, trust God.” Kiara lives by the motto, “You only get one life to live, so make the best of it.” Her fondest memory of Magee High School was the day that all of the Class of 2K17 came together to support a fellow class member. Her favorite quote is from Kevin Gates, “ Why accept failure when success is free?”  She feels that it is great to be a Trojan because her class is such a “close knit” group. After graduation she plans to attend Mississippi State and major in engineering.

Senior Maid Ny’Keria Traxler is the 17-year-old daughter of LaShundra Traxler. Her sister is Kameshia Traxler. December 12th is her birthday. She enjoys running track, playing volleyball and softball, being a makeup artist, and listening to Bryson Tiller. Her favorite movie is Miss Congeniality. Ny’Keria is a member of  Beta and Science clubs, Debate Team, National Honor Society. She also serves as a Senior representative to the Magee High Student Council. She is a part of Rio Iota Zeta Archonettes. The best advice Ny’Keria has been given is, “Always pray and don’t give up.” She lives by the motto, “Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you become your reality.” Her fondest memories of Magee High School are the Magee vs Mendenhall games. Romans 8:18: “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed,” is her favorite quote.  Football Fridays make it great to be a Trojan. After graduation, Ny’Keria plans to attend Jones and Alcorn for pre-law and then graduate school at Ole Miss.

Junior Maid Ashton Elizabeth Craft is the 15-year-old daughter of Katy and Steven Craft. She has one sister, Sarah. October 25th is her birthday. She enjoys socializing, photography, and being in the band. Her favorite artist is Kevin Gates and her favorite movie is Finding Nemo. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Magee High Band. She is also a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Mt. Olive. The best advice Ashton has been given is, “Be yourself, regardless of what people have to say about it.” She credits her Mamaw Harper with the motto she lives by; “Tomorrow has to be better than today. It simply has to be.” Her fondest memory of Magee High School is getting all superior at the State Marching Festival. According to Walt Disney, “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them,” and her all time dream is to attend Mississippi State University .

Junior Maid Kayla Walker is the 16-year-old daughter of Cassandra Owens Walker and the late Cassius Walker. She has three siblings, Ka’Shea and Cassius Walker and Ashanti Dukes. Her birthday is January 19th. Kayla enjoys dancing, “stepping,” and traveling. She also enjoys doing hair and makeup and making people feel better about themselves. Her favorite artist is Tupac and her favorite movie is Age of Adeline. At school, Kayla is in the band. She enjoys working in her community and being an encourager. She is a member of the Archonette Club.The best advice Kayla has been given is, “No matter what happens in life, you always do what is right.” She lives by the motto, “You have not, because you ask not.” Fondest memories of Magee High School are being in the band with her sister and cheering for her brother at the games. “If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse.”  Her important desires for the future include attending Alcorn State University and majoring in nursing.

Sophomore Maid Hannah Newsome is the 16-year-old daughter of Kim and DeAndre Newsome. Siblings include Kelly, Tristan, and Madison Newsome. Her birthday is October 4th. Her hobbies include singing and writing. Her favorite artist is Party Next Door. Her favorite show and movie is Pretty Little Liars and Stranger Things. She is a member of the Beta and Science Clubs, HOSA, Magee High Band, and Student Council.  In the community, Hannah volunteers at the library, babysits, and is a part of the dance group at her church. Hannah says the best advice anyone has given her is “to be myself because everyone else is taken.” She lives by the motto, “Stay true to yourself.” Her fondest memory of Magee High School is becoming an all superior band as a freshman. Hannah’s  favorite quote is, “Physical wounds are nothing compared to emotional ones. The ones you cannot see hurt more than any other scar.” According to Hannah, “It is a great day to be a Trojan when I am able to come to school and have the opportunity to learn.” Hannah’s future goal is to become a pediatrician.

Sophomore Maid Maleah McCulloch is the 15-year-old daughter of Richard McCulloch. She has one sister, Maya, and a pet dog, Buddy. Her birthday is May 2nd. She enjoys playing soccer and hanging out with friends. Maleah’s favorite artist is Twenty One Pilots. Her favorite movie is Stranger Things. She is a member of the Beta and Science Clubs, HOSA, and the Magee High Band. She also does volunteer work for her church and babysits. Maleah says that the best advice anyone has given her is, “Don’t try to change anyone and don’t let anyone try to change you.” She lives by the motto, “Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself.” Her fondest memory of Magee High School was the very first time she marched with the band as a freshman. Her favorite quote is from Albert Einstein, “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” Maleah says that it is great to be a Trojan when knowing that no matter what I’m going through, my friends will be there for me. She wants to graduate in the top 10 of her class and to become an anesthesiologist.

Freshman Maid Kellie McCollum is the 15-year-old daughter of Keith and Monica McCollum. She has a sister, Kaitlyn, a brother, Wesley, and a pet dog, Sadie. Her birthday is June 22nd. Her hobbies include playing in the band. Her favorite artist is Raelynn and her favorite show is Pretty Little Liars. The best advice anyone has given Kellie is, “Don’t let anyone’s hate or negativity stop you from being the best person you can be.” Kellie lives by the motto, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” Her fondest memory of Magee High School was the day of the Superbowl because It was fun to be around friends all day. Kellie’s favorite quote is, “Take time to do what makes your soul happy.” Kellie’s answer to the question “What makes it a great day to be a Trojan?” is when she can see her friends and be around them throughout the day and also to learn new things. Because she likes taking pictures of nature, wildlife, and people, Kellie’s future plans include becoming a photographer.

Freshman Maid Ashanti Brown is the 14-year-old daughter of Beverly McGowan and Trellis Brown.  Siblings are Shaletia, Mariah, Devontazious, Ashia, and Trellis, Jr.Her birthday is June 26th. Ashanti’s hobbies include shopping, listening to music, and watching TV. Her favorite artist is YFN Lucci and her favorite movie is ATL. She is a member of the Magee High Band and Colorguard. Ashanti says that the best advice she has been given is, “Mind your business.” The motto she lives by is “Do what you want, because they gon’ talk about you anyway.” Her fondest memory of Magee High School was the moment she found out she had been elected Freshmen Maid. Her favorite quote is from an anonymous author, “No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up, and give it your best.”  Ashanti’s answer to the question “What makes it a great day to be a Trojan?” is to have a positive attitude.
