MHS Class of 2019 Turned the Tassel

Another year has pasted and another graduating class has turned the tassel.

Magee Graduating Class of 2019 held their commencement ceremony Tuesday evening, May 21, 2019 on Trojan Field.

Graduates entered the field from the south end zone in two single file lines.

Soumaya Middleton, Student Body President, gave the invocation.

Josie Russell delivered the Valedictorian address. Cynahmon Lee gave the Salutatorian address. Soumaya Middleton delivered the Historian address.

Dr. Tom Duncan, Principal, and Dr. Maron Lacey, Assistant Principal, presented Diplomas to the graduates. Mrs. Kelly Anderson, Counselor,  verified all candidates had met the requirements for graduation.  Dr. Lacey presented the Class of 2019 and instructed the graduates “to turn their tassels.”

Aaliyah Walker, Senior Class President, led in the benediction.

Magee High School Band provided music for the evening event. Ushers for the evening  were members of the Junior Class.

LD Duckworths mother was recognized and presented his robe, diploma, and memorabilia signed by the seniors class. LD lost his life weeks ago just before graduation.

The Class of 2019 chose the Red Rose as their class flower. Class Motto: “Today, we prepare for our dreams of tomorrow.” Class Quote: “If I can not do great things, I can do small things in a great way”- Dr. Martin Luther King
