A police motorcade passed through Magee at 4:25pm Friday afternoon escorting MHP Trooper Lt. Trea Staples.  Skies were sunny as Magee Police officers stopped traffic along Hwy 49 in Magee as Lt. Staples made his way through our great city to his home to continue his recovery.

Staples was one of three officers injured from gunshots in Tishomingo County last month on February 19th.   A 45 year old armed man, Charles Lambert, barricaded himself in a home southeast of Iuka with a woman and child.  Lambert was shot and killed.

Troopers Deandrea Dixon and Bubba Holifield were also injured in the shootout.   Holifield also has ties to the Laurel area.  A fourth trooper, Lee Tartt, died during the incident.
