Dear Citizens of Magee,
I want to take a moment to address everyone in our community. The Magee Police Department remains fully committed to combating drugs, DUIs, and any other crimes that occur within our city limits. Transparency and accountability are priorities, which is why we will continue to post arrests on our social media platforms.
Let me be clear: posting arrests is not slanderous or a form of punishment it is public record and serves as part of our commitment to keeping you informed. If you don’t want your name to appear in these posts, the solution is simple: do not break the law in our city limits , especially when it comes to driving under the influence. Drunk driving is not only illegal, but it endangers the lives of everyone in our community.
I also want to address any misconceptions: calling the mayor or threatening to go to the board will not deter me from doing my job. There are laws that prohibit their interference with our day to day operations. The days of looking the other way or bending rules are over. I am here to run this department as it should be run firmly, fairly, and with integrity.
To those who support our efforts, I thank you. To those who may disagree, I cannot change your mind, but I will not waver in my commitment to upholding the law and protecting our citizens.
Sincerely,
Chief Denis J. Borges
Magee Police Department
