Mendenhall High School Student to Represent School and City in Youth Leadership Program

Mendenhall High School junior Zoey Feazell was recently selected to participate in the 2022 Youth Leadership Tour program, coordinated by the Electric Cooperatives of Mississippi (ECM).

The Youth Leadership Tour program – supported locally by electric cooperatives – focuses on developing leadership skills of high school students in Mississippi who have demonstrated a desire to be quality leaders among today’s young people.

In addition to inspiring leadership qualities, the program also acquaints students with electric power associations and cooperatives in the region; introduces first-hand knowledge of state and national politics; and encourages relationships that many students will foster throughout their lives.

In March, Feazell will attend a three-day Mississippi Youth Leadership Workshop in Jackson and a weeklong Washington D.C. Youth Tour in June – all expenses paid.

Feazell is one of two students selected from the Southern Pine Electric Cooperative’s service area to participate in the program out of 30 students representing 18 high schools and one homeschool program. She will join other students from across the state and country during the respective tours.

To be selected for the Youth Leadership Tour program, students must be a high school junior — nominated by their high school principal and guidance counselor — who possess leadership qualities and receive service from an electric cooperative.
