CAPTION: Despite the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) crews reopened State Route 465 today from U.S. Highway 61 to the Backwater Levee following recent backwater flooding in Warren and Issaquena County.
Once floodwaters receded, MDOT crews worked to quickly inspect and reopen the roadway to small vehicle traffic only. Larger commercial motor vehicles should continue seeking an alternate route until further notice. SR 465 from the Backwater Levee to the Gin at Eagle Lake remains closed at this time.
The reopening of this stretch of SR 465 was completed by essential maintenance crews continuing to work through the COVID-19 outbreak. Construction and maintenance crews will remain on duty to perform core job requirements such as construction inspections, roadway repairs and severe weather response.
Despite current conditions, the safety of Mississippi motorists will remain MDOT’s top priority. Stay updated on road conditions throughout the pandemic at MDOTtraffic.com, download the MDOT Traffic mobile app and follow @MississippiDOT on Facebook and Twitter.
