MDOT celebrates Engineers Week 2024

JACKSON, MISS. – The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) joins the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in recognizing the week of Feb. 18-24, 2024, as Engineer’s Week (EWeek).

MDOT is made up of more than 230 engineers who work in various fields of construction, maintenance, bridge, materials, hydraulics and more. Each MDOT engineer works to maintain and enhance Mississippi’s transportation network.

“MDOT is responsible for maintaining more than 30,000 miles of highway and 5,000 bridges. This is possible thanks to the experience and dedication of our engineers,” said Brad White, MDOT Executive Director. “MDOT’s engineers make the agency what it is today. Despite being understaffed, no matter the challenge, our talented engineering team is able to keep Mississippi’s roads and bridges secure and available to motorists.”

EWeek was founded by the NSPE in 1951. Its purpose is to raise awareness of the value of technical education and a high level of math, scientific and technological literacy to encourage students to seek careers in engineering and technology.

An MDOT engineer will be featured on social media each day of EWeek. You can find these features by following @MississippiDOT on Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn. Watch the full YouTube playlist HERE.
