PORT ARTHUR, TX (Dec 4) – After a 5-day manhunt that crossed three states, authorities in Port Arthur, Texas, report that law enforcement from Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana have recaptured escapee Ryan Young.
The 28-year-old Mississippi inmate escaped after a court hearing Wednesday in Meridian, Mississippi.
Police say he stole a truck in Mississippi and a car in Louisiana before being cornered in Port Arthur today without incident. No one was injured.
Before his escape, Young was serving a 40-year sentence for vehicle and residential burglaries, grand larceny, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, all committed in Claiborne County, Mississippi.
JACKSON – The Mississippi Department of Corrections is continuing to search for a state prisoner who escaped in Lauderdale County.
Ryan Young, MDOC No. 168743, is serving a 40-year sentence for vehicle and residential burglaries, grand larceny, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, all committed in Claiborne County.
Young, dressed in an MDOC yellow jumpsuit, was being returned to the Walnut Grove Correctional Facility from Meridian, where he was taken to court, when he escaped Wednesday.
The 28-year-old black male stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 193 pounds. He has dreadlocks that are longer than his last prison photo shows.
The MDOC encourages anyone spotting Young to call their local law enforcement agency.
