Mississippi College is assessing the rapidly changing spread of the coronavirus. On March 11, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a pandemic. Our primary concern is the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff, and we recognize that we need to act in the best interest of our nation’s common good.

While there are no cases of COVID-19 on our campus at this time, we want to minimize our risk. We are consulting with health agencies as well as other institutions. Along with many other institutions, the university has taken these steps:

  • MC will extend Spring Break for students through Sunday, March 22. We encourage students not to return to campus this week. Faculty and staff should report as normal on Monday, March 16.
  • Starting Monday, March 23, classes will transition to online instruction through at least April 3. Students are encouraged to remain at home and participate in their classes remotely. Students enrolled in certain clinical and research/lab classes will be notified of any exceptions.
  • All student activities are cancelled through at least April 3. Athletic events are under review with the Gulf South Conference.
  • University-sponsored international travel and non-essential domestic travel is suspended until further notice.

As this situation evolves, we will continue to update information on our website mc.edu/coronavirus.
