The Scriptural passage for today can be found in Job 1:21: “Naked came I from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” This puts our whole earthly existence in terms we can all understand: we were created by God and brought into this world with nothing, and we’ll be taken by God at the appointed time. He is entirely in control. In it all and through it all, He is to be praised and lauded. Job realized this at his lowest point, as well as while on the heights. So should we. This is fundamental Christianity. My mama loved saying, when speaking of the finality of this earthly existence, “I’ve never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul.” Think about it. Amen!
Now, we have our charge for the day: go out and spread God’s love, His joy, and His kindness with each and every person with whom we come in contact. He gave His all for us and only expects our love and obedience in return. “Let your life so be that all the world may see the joy of serving Jesus with a smile–a bright, shining smile.” I love that old gospel song. Happy Tuesday!
