MENDENHALL– Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Simpson County Center inducted one outstanding student to the college’s Hall of Fame during their annual awards day program. The Hall of Fame is the most prestigious award given to a student and is voted on by students, faculty, and staff members. Only college sophomores are eligible for the honor and basis for selection includes fineness of character, superior scholarship, worthy leadership, and contribution to the betterment of Copiah-Lincoln. Gerson Martinez of Magee was selected as this year’s inductee.

Martinez, a business administration major, graduated from Co-Lin in December of 2024. During his time at Co-Lin, he was a member of the Trailblazers, Alpha Omega, Phi Theta Kappa, and Mu Alpha Theta. He served on the Student Government Association and was a Co-Lin Foundation scholarship recipient. Martinez was selected to Who’s Who at Copiah-Lincoln Community College and was named to the Phi Theta Kappa All-Mississippi Academic Team. He was elected by his peers as Mr. Co-Lin for the Simpson County Center. A graduate of Magee High School, he is the son of Telma Garcia and Horacio Martinez.

Co-Lin President Dr. Dewayne Middleton congrats Gerson Martinez on his induction into Co-Lin’s Simpson County Center Hall of Fame.
