Marjorie Irby Gordon, 76 of Florence, Mississippi passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Magee General Hospital in Magee, Mississippi. She was born Sunday, April 28, 1946, in Brandon, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 3077 Simpson Hwy 13, Mendenhall, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in New Covenant Church Cemetery in Harrisville, Mississippi. Bro. Carey Childress will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

Mrs. Marjorie was a member of Mendenhall Church of Christ.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.  She enjoyed hunting, gardening, shopping, working, and most of all spending time with her grands.  She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gordon; father, Louis May Irby; mother, Clemma Grace Chapman Irby; and sister, Margaret Irby Thacker.

Survivors include her two daughters, Pattie Gordon Childress (Carey) of Harrisville, MS and Joanne Gordon (Anthony McDowell) of Florence, MS; five grandchildren, Jessica Carraway Hodges of Braxton, MS, Jayce Carraway (Matt Love) of Byram, MS, Beth Carraway (Acey Newell) of Brandon, MS, Heather Bennett Herrington of Florence, MS and Brad Bennett (Chasity) of Braxton, MS; four great-grandchildren, Bethann Bennett of Braxton, MS, Colby Bennett of Braxton, MS, Annabelle Stovall of Braxton, MS and Rose Newell of Brandon, MS; one brother, Louis “Pierre” Irby (Donna) of Florence, MS; mother-in-law, Gertha Walker Ward of Florence, MS; one brother-in-law, A.C. Thacker of Florence, MS; and a host of other family members and friends.
