Did you know Magee has a radio station? Well, we do! Renew 96.9 is on our airwaves…..and MageeNews.com will be bringing an update several times Monday-Friday on the happenings of Magee.

You know me, I’m all about trying something! When Pastor Gene Amason, Jr. and Chris Curlee approached me with the idea…I just thought…you would turn me loose “live” on a radio station??? Renew 96.9 is a Christian station…playing Christian music…so, I’m gonna have to mind my “Ps and Qs.”

Our debut show is Wednesday at 7:15 AM. The show will be repeated through out the day…so just listen…you can be privy to the happenings of Magee and the surrounding areas.

If you have a birthday or announcement you would like included only the daily talks…just email info to Sue@mageenews.com

After I spoke with Pastor Gene and Chris, I wanted to know more about Renew 96.9…this is what I learned…

“Years ago, Pastor Gene Amason, Sr. felt God was calling Church Alive to bring radio back to Magee. He kept the thought to himself and shortly thereafter a pastor and his wife were coming from Orlando to speak at the church and they said they felt God was calling the church to start as well. Yet another confirmation came shortly after.”
“The church jumped on board, the process began and approval came from the FCC. Fast forwarding to 2013, we were moving forward and Pastor Gene suddenly had a seizure and a brain tumor was discovered. At this point the project was on hold while all of the focus was on the church and Pastor Gene’s health. Pastor Gene passed away in 2015 and shortly after we (Pastor Gene, Jr) picked up where we had left off.”
“In late 2015 Renew 96.9 was on the air and we’re excited that his area once again has a local radio station.” (jPastor Gene Amason, Jr)

The coverage is from Mendenhall south between Mt Olive and Collins…Mize, Raleigh, Puckett and Magee.

Renew 96.9 is Magee’s Emergency Management’s source of communication in the event of emergencies or catastrophes.
