On December 1, 2016, Officer Chris Jones was on Patrol when he observed a 1999 Ford F150 Van all over the road. Officer Jones made an attempt to stop the van but the van would not stop for blue lights and sirens.
Officer Shane Fewell assisted in getting the vehicle stopped on 49 Highway at Fast Track.
The driver was identified as Herman Lindsey of Jackson. Lindsey was extremely impaired and very incoherent.
Officer Jones smelled a strong odor of spice coming from the vehicle.
Officer Jones found two large bags of spice in the vehicle, along with baggies, and paraphernalia. Jones was charged with DUI other substance, failure to yield to blue lights, careless driving, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute (spice).
K9 Officer Landon Ates seized approximately $476.09 and the 1999 Ford Van driven by Lindsey.
Magee Municipal Court Judge Eugene Knight set the felony bond at $10,000.
