Magee Police Department released the following statement concerning a dog incident within the city.
On Saturday February 13th, 2021 at approximately 3:31PM, Magee Police Department received a call from Simpson County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch stating that “TONIA” who worked for Hand’s Nursery had been bitten by a dog at Doctor Blackledge’s house. Magee Officers arrived at 920 Maple Avenue NW, Magee and observed that Tonia Ashley had been severely bitten in her hand, back and leg by the resident owners ‘Dogo Argentino’ dog. Officers made quick arrangements with two witnesses on the scene to transport Tonia Ashley to the Magee General Hospital Emergency Room before the ambulance arrived. Officers interviewed the “Dog Sitter” who stated that “DOGO” accidentally got out of the house. The “Dog Sitter” stated that she witnessed “DOGO” attack Tonia Ashley in the side yard, carport and inside the carport utility room before she could get him under control with the help of a witness. This is one of multiple incidents and/or complaints involving this dog in particular. The incident remains under investigation by Magee Police Department.
