-
Yesterday at approximately 10:00 PM, Magee Police Department patrol supervisor conducted a traffic stop near Main Avenue at the intersection of Simpson 149 for careless driving. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver, Henry Eduardo Lucas Perez, was operating the vehicle without a license and was suspected of driving under the influence (DUI). Upon further investigation, officers found a felony amount of what is believed to be cocaine in Perez’s possession.Perez was transported to the Magee Police Department, where it was later confirmed that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had an active warrant for his arrest. A hold was placed on Perez, and he is currently being held at the Magee City Jail. It’s important to remember that all individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Driving under the influence, whether due to drugs or alcohol, is a serious offense and will not be tolerated. According to SafeHome.org, over 13,000 people lost their lives in DUI-related crashes in 2022 across the U.S., many of whom were innocent families simply traveling on the road. Don’t be the reason a family loses a loved one due to your recklessness. Don’t drink and drive-save a life. It could be yours.Chief Denis J. BorgesMagee Police DepartmentSent from my iPhone
