Magee Board of Alderman met Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Mayor Dale Berry was back in action and doing well from his recent absence due to an accident.
A Golf Cart Ordinance was discussed. Attorney Bruce Smith will work on a ordinance on what streets would and would not be accessible, and what restrictions would be required on the golf cart. Ordinance should be ready and available for board to vote at next schedule meeting.
The board agreed to hire Kara Kimbrough at the cost of $150.00 to write a grant for CNN railroad.
The City of Magee, Chamber, and Keep Simpson County Beautiful committee are working on the McNair Springs area. The week of February 9, 2019 Disciple Now students will donate their time to help clean the park area as part of their service project.
The city is working on a flyer to be distributed that describes dates of pickup and how trash should be sorted before city workers can pick the trash up by the curb side.
Mayor Dale Berry brought to the board attention about banning fireworks usage and sale within the city. The board will revisit this issue later in the year.
A new restaurant is coming to Magee, Rocky’s Steak, Seafood, and Oyster Bar. The restaurant is in the process of applying for a beer permit and license.
The board approved for Joe Hubbard to attend water school in February for the city.
