The Magee Board of Alderman met Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 6:30. Mayor Jimmy Clyde called meeting to order, and Alderman Patrick Brown led prayer.
Special guest, Magee 12-year-old baseball team, coached by Dale Berry, was on hand to present the trophies they had won during All Stars to the City of Magee. This team went 12-2 during All stars play.
All work Projects and Committee Reports were given and approved.
Mayor Clyde reported the swimming pool had closed for the year. He sated the numbers were better this year than the previous year. He commented on a job well done by the lifeguards and pool maintenance. The consideration is still out on if the pool will reopen next year.
The police and fire Department had no new or old business to report at this time.
A special guest from the MAC Center, Mississippi Access to Care, spoke to the board asking for help to bring awareness to the needy people of the Magee Area. The MAC Center is an organization located in Canton, MS that helps with connecting Mississippians with long-term care services and support.
Mayor Clyde also thanked everyone that help to make the Blood Drive a success.
The approval to hire Tommy Thornton as an employee and voted and approved.
Two bids were submitted for the lease purchase of the street sweeper of 2.66% from Trustmark and 2.5% from PriorityOne Bank. The board approved to accept the lower bid 2.5% from PriorityOne Bank.
The board also approved two employees, Louis and Reggie, to attend a water and wastewater review course in Raymond during September.
Mayor Clyde mentioned the city was considering additional security measures to the City Hall building, by adding video cameras and scanner.
Meeting was adjourned for an executive meeting.
