Magee 10U All Stars 10U softball girls were honored at the Magee Board of Alderman meeting Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

The girls won the All American Youth Sports Association World Series Championship title Sunday, July 17, 2022 in Gulfport, MS. The team was undefeated in play.

Members and coaches are as follows: Girls left to right: Miley Massey, Tinsley Rogers, Ava Kate Maddox, Caroline Lewis, Stella Steed, Anne Marie Blakeney, Lucy Walker, Marissa Reyes, Sidnie Bass, Madisyn Hankins, Ella Gordon, Carsyn Drake, Raegan Hardin. Coaches left to right: Shannon Steed, Wayne Bass, Jacob Blakeney, Evan Gordon.  Aldermen:  Sue Honea, Matthew Hickman, Mark Grubbs, Mayor Dale Berry, Patrick Brown, Lane Steele, and City attorney Marc McMillian.

Mayor Dale Berry advised the board during the meeting MDOT was closing several medians inside the city limits on Hwy 49. Berry also advised MDOT will be asphalting Simpson Hwy 149.

The ongoing discussion of portable building were a hot topic during the meeting. The board advised the city had ordinances and the employees were to see that the ordinances were enforced.

Park Director Jimmy Zila advised soccer registration has started. The registration will run now through September 11, 2022. The soccer season will run the months of October and November. Anyone wanting to participate in soccer needs to sign up at city hall.

Zila advised there are 14 tournaments scheduled now through the middle of November at the sports complex.

The movie theater has been purchased and the new owner will begin clean up immediately.

The board approved for the police department to purchase new uniforms.

All department heads were informed they could and will receive a balanced budget each month to determine how their department is operating.

Five areas homeowners within the city limits of Magee have been served affidavits or summons pertaining to condition of their property according to Deputy Fire Marshall Shane Steele.

The first regular schedule board meeting for August was moved to Thursday, August 4, 2022.
