The new Institute for Government at Jackson State University celebrated its grand opening today with Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and several other legislative leaders. The downtown Jackson campus is one of several investments in higher education the Legislature has made over the past four years.
“Your elected leaders are looking at the big picture and investing in Mississippi’s future through new programs and building improvements to support student learning,” Lt. Gov. Reeves said. “From kindergarten to doctoral programs, Mississippi cannot afford to view education in silos. The state’s economic success relies on a strong workforce through all levels of education.”
Over the past four years, the Legislature has supported a new School of Nursing at the University of Southern Mississippi, new medical school at the University of Mississippi and growth at the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems at Mississippi State University.
