Lion Joey McNulty (left) hosted guest speakers at the Lions Club meeting with Chad Netterville (center), Executive Director of the Rural Hospital Alliance, and Richard Roberson (right) of the MS Hospital Association.
Information was shared with club members about the impact Medicaid expansion would have on MS Hospitals and some interesting facts about MS Hospitals. MS Hospitals rank about 20th in the nation in patient satisfaction yet are listed as the lowest cost per day in the nation. Another trend discussed was the aging of the medical doctors in MS, with over 50% being 55 or older, up from about 35% just a few years ago. This trend does not bode well for the future of healthcare in MS.
The Club also announced their annual golf tournament will be Thursday, April 24th. Sponsors sheets and sign=up forms will be available soon at the Simpson County Country Club and with your local Lions Club members.
