Magee Elementary is working hard preparing for state test, and with hard work comes reward. Dr. Lawrence creates challenging and fun ways to educate the children and have fun at the same time.

Every year the different grades have competitions. This year competition for I Ready is “Let the Music Move You”. Each class and grade will earn music notes each week by earning minutes in I Ready and maintaining a high passage rate. As each grade earns music notes the note will be placed on a music sheet for each grade. The song contains 59 music notes. The grade with the largest number of notes will earn the maximum time during a dance to be held on December 19, 2019.

First place receives 1 1/2 hours of dance time. 2nd Place receives 1 hour dance time. 3rd Place receives :45 Minutes, 4th Place receives :30 Minutes, and 5th Place earns receives :20 minutes.

Once a sheet has been completed and all notes are on the sheet, the grade can submit the title of song (only by looking at the notes). If the title is submitted correctly the grade will have the opportunity to bring snacks and drink to the dance.

Winners are listed below:

  • 1st Place – Fourth Grade
  • 2nd Place – 1st Grade (only one point separated 2nd and 3rd)
  • 3rd Place – 3rd Grade
  • 4th Place – 2nd Grade
  • 5th Place – Kindergarten

Dr. Lawrence has had success with similar competitions before. The school has had basketball theme, football theme and now music.
