He retired in 2020 from Ensco Offshore, where he had worked for many years as a Dynamic Positioning Operator. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee Bertran McCoy, Sr., and Myrtle Mae Reynolds McCoy. He is survived by his devoted wife of over fifty years Lynn Floyd McCoy, their five children; Trey McCoy and his wife Laura of Falkner Mississippi, Jason McCoy and his wife Melissa of Mendenhall, Laura Dobson and her husband James of Bay St. Louis, Bonnie Jones and her husband Evan of Mendenhall, Joseph McCoy and his wife Sarah of Mendenhall, and twenty-three grandchildren who were the joy of his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the New Home Cemetery Fund in his honor.
