Layla Sullivan Wins Groundbreaking Mississippi Art Contest

Layla Sullivan from Magee Elementary School is the 2016 winner of a statewide art contest sponsored by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

The winning artwork will be transferred to a ceramic tile and put on permanent display in the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum after the 2017 opening.

Students from Mrs. Leslie May’s FLAGG class submitted artwork to be judge.

Ms Claire E Gwaltney, Assistant Director of Education, was on hand Tuesday, April 26, 2016 for the presentation of the award.

Layla was given a certificate and ceramic tile of her drawing like the one that will be displaced in the Museum.

Mrs. May also had a student who placed honorable mention.  Greta Grubbs was this winner and she was presented with a certificate.
