Mrs. Laura Killingsworth passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, March 10, 2018, at Magee General Hospital. Laura was born in Mize, Mississippi on February 12, 1923, to Cleveland Sumter Thornton and Mittie Hughes Thornton.
She has resided in the Simpson-Covington county areas of Mendenhall and Mount Olive since 1962, where she lived with her husband, Reverend Foy Killingsworth.
She was a blessed sister to twelve siblings; Ted Thornton, Truitt Thornton, TC Thornton, Bernice Thornton, Walter Thornton, Ruth Boals, Rachael Adcock, Lois Hughes, Sarah Thornton, Nettie Hughes, Roma Duckworth, and Rebecca Denton, and two half-siblings; Grace Ratcliffe and Tracy Thornton.
She married Reverend Killingsworth on Thanksgiving Day in 1948. They have three children; sons, Mark Killingsworth (Rheba) and Randy Killingsworth (Donna) all of Hattiesburg; and daughter, Karen Johnson (Jimmy) of Brookhaven.
She is preceded in death by her parents and twelve of her siblings.
She is survived by her husband and three children; sisters, Rebecca Denton and Grace Ratcliffe; six grandchildren, Kristal Lane, Jami Britt, Juli Johnson, Lindsey Vega, Meredith Killingsworth, and Mikaela Killingsworth; and eight great-grandchildren, Marley, Maddie Kate, Jaden, Chloe, Aubrey, Hanna, Kayla and Jake.
Laura has now gone home to reap her rewards in Heaven with her sweet Jesus who she loved so deeply.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Weathersby Baptist Church, Highway 49 North, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mize, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Weathersby Baptist Church, 114 Church Street, Mendenhall, MS 39114.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
