Larry Dan Blakeney, 73 of Mize, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Sunday, October 10, 1948 in Smith County, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home at 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Fairmont Waco Cemetery in Mize, Mississippi. Brother Mike Davis will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a lifelong resident of Mize, where he was known and loved by everyone. He was an avid fisherman who always had a joke or two to tell. Dan loved his family, friends, and dog Mila. He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lavelle Blakeney; mother, Nola Luckey Blakeney; and his sisters, Ruth Blakeney Crawford and Betty Blakeney Jordan.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty years, Brenda Butler Blakeney of Mize, Mississippi; one son, Jim Raines (Kimberly) of Brandon, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Kayla Raines Houston (Justin) of Brandon, Mississippi, Savannah Raines Heidelberg (Cody) of Ellisville, Mississippi, Brooklyn Jenkins Kirkland (Matt) of Mendenhall, Mississippi and Kayla Nicole Jenkins McInnis (Eric) of Brandon, Mississippi; one brother, Gene Blakeney (Freda) of Mize, Mississippi; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Cody Heidelberg, Justin Houston, and Jim Raines.
Honorary pallbearer will be Camden Null.
