La Claudelle Craft-Jones named Parent of the Year for Magee High School
Dr. Tom Duncan, Principal at Magee High, announced the recognition of Mrs. La Craft-Jones as the Parent of the Year for Magee High School 2018-2019. Mrs. Craft-Jones has lived her entire life in Magee, MS. She is a member of Calvary M.B. Church. Mrs. Craft-Jones has two sons, Reginald and Zyrus. The oldest son, Reginald, is a 2015 honor graduate of Magee High School, a graduate from JCJC with a degree in Computer Networking and is employed as an IT Technician with Simpson County School District. Her youngest son, Zyrus, is a Freshman at Magee High School, were he is an honor student, active member in the Beta Club, serves as Vice-President of his class, a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council, the Magee High Student Counci, and plays football with the varsity team.
Mrs. La Craft-Jones is a 1997 honor graduate of Magee High School and a graduate of William Carey University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She also earned a master’s degree in Mild and Moderate Disabilities, with certification in numerous areas. Mrs. La Craft-Jones is also an active financial member of the BEST SORORITY, Rho Iota Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, INC.
Mrs. Craft-Jones is well known around Magee High School, where she serves as the President of the Hardwood Club, a member of the P16 Council and subcommittee on behavioral issues, and is a member of Magee Touchdown Club. She also volunteers at the school with numerous activities.
Dr. Duncan commented on her selection, “Mrs. Craft-Jones is always ready to help out with projects, staff recognition, and student activities. She is a great example for the students and other parents of Magee High. We are proud to have her as a Trojan!”
