Karen Lee Stephens Milling walked into Heaven on May 3, 2022, at the age of 70.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Mendenhall, MS at 11:00 am with visitation from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mendenhall City Cemetery.
Karen was a 1969 graduate of Mendenhall High School where she was editor of the yearbook, basketball cheerleader, Ms. MHS, band officer and played 1st chair clarinet for four years.
Karen attended Hinds Junior College and loved singing in the Hinds Choir.
She graduated from the University of Southern MS where she majored in English with a minor in music. She played with the USM Symphony.
Always having loved music, Karen played the clarinet, piano, organ, and harp. She was in the Mississippi Chorus where she sang alto and tenor.
Having lived in Dallas a short time, Karen joined Dallas First Baptist Church where she was a leader for the alto section in the sanctuary choir.
Community activities she participated in were Simpson County Symphonic Club, Friends of the Library, Mendenhall Chamber of Commerce and Christian Women’s Job Corps.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd F. Stephens, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J. Harvey; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd F. Stephens Sr. and brother-in-law, Hal King.
She is survived by her sisters, Christy Stephens Rotenberry and Mary Louise Stephens King; nieces, Jenni Rotenberry Grantham (Jonathan), Rebecca Rotenberry, Natalie Rotenberry Jones (Will); nephew, Matthew Stephen King; great-nephew, Jefferson Grantham and great-niece, Nova Grace Nichols.
The family request that any memorials be made to Mendenhall Cemeteries Association, P O Box 838, Mendenhall, MS 39114 or Mendenhall First Baptist Church, P O Box 366, Mendenhall, MS 39114.
Pallbearers will be David Childress, Jonathan Grantham, Mark Killingsworth, Matt King, David Massey, John A. McGowan, Clint Rotenberry and Dale Shotts.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
