Mrs. Carter, teacher at Mendenhall High School, has been evolved with her Junior AP English Class writing short stories.
The class has been following the Write for Ms format. Write for Ms is an umbrella organization for the conception and implementation of diverse projects that use creative writing and storytelling to further the causes of community engagement, social justice, free speech, historical responsibility, and the ongoing search for truth and beauty in the state of Mississippi.
Mrs. Carter had each student write a short story and design a cover. Each student shared their writing with other students within the class. Most of these stories are 1000 words or less.
Michael Pickard Ph.D, Assistant Professor of English from Millsaps College, came and spoke to the students about writing and expressing themselves. The class participated with interaction games. Mr. Pickard read a short story to the class and asked them to identify and discuss different points and elements from the story.
Mr. Pickard expressed the best writing are those that comes out of your own mind. Every life is full of fiction.
