On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at approximately 7:48 a.m., a Magee police officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 49 South near Austin Storage Units for a vehicle displaying expired license plates.
During the stop, it was determined that the driver, identified as Juan Ramon Romero Calix, was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license and without proof of liability insurance. Further investigation revealed a .40-caliber firearm inside the vehicle, along with 1.3 grams of suspected cocaine and 6 grams of methamphetamine and a used pipe containing what’s believed to be meth.
Calix was transported to the Magee Police Department, where he was booked and processed for the possession of a controlled substance ( firearms enhancement) , possession of paraphernalia, no drivers license, no insurance and expired license plates.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
