John Royals, an over thirty year employee with the Magee School system, died Thursday night, August 23rd. You may be saying “who?” But, for all the students who passed through the cafeteria and school grounds for the last 30 year knew John. He was one of those silent people who made a difference not with words but with action. He did what was required of him…something many of us don’t do. He was truly a Trojan. He attended Magee School and then begin working at Magee School.
John was working Thursday at the Elementary cafeteria. He took the trash out and later employees found him slumped by the cans. He was taken to Magee General Hospital then airlifted to a Jackson Hospital where he later died.
I received a message on MageeNews FB page from a parent who was asking for their child…”how is Mr. John.” The students is a 2nd grader at Magee.
John may never have known he was touching others. His smile, his quietness touched others. Yes, John, you made a difference.
I will post funeral arrangements when received.
John is the brother of Tom Royals.
Visitation is Sunday 5-8
Funeral 10. Monday
