John Daniel Barrett, Jr., 66, of Braxton, Mississippi, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood, Mississippi. He was born Saturday, March 6, 1954, in Jackson, Mississippi.

Graveside Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 15, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Callender Family Cemetery in Braxton, Mississippi. Bro. John Hancock will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. (601) 847-4401

Mr. Barrett was a member of New Covenant Church.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Daniel Barrett, Sr. and Ollie Ruth Phillips Barrett.

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Sylvia Callender Barrett of Braxton; three sons, Chuck McGee (Melissa) of Florence, Wesley McGee (Emily) of Florence, and Kaleb Walker of Braxton; two daughters, Lori Barrett of Collins, and Gracie Walker of Braxton; nine grandchildren; one brother, Donald Barrett (Tammy) of Florence; two sisters, Janet Herman (John) of Flowood and Judy James (Jeff) of Brandon; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jason Barrett, Kaleb Walker, Andrew McGee, Aaron McGee, Eddie Mahaffey, Matt Temple, Tim Temple,  and Chaston Bullock.
